About Us

Humble Fungi was founded in 2019 with the goal to provide health-promoting fungi to our local community. Knowing the benefits of fungi to both humans and the world around us, we set out to share this knowledge with others and to do our part to improve our little corner of the environment with the power of fungi. Humble Fungi has grown from a guest-bedroom-hobby into a small business selling to local consumers and businesses.

Nathan Brenner is the heart and soul of Humble Fungi. He manages the business and oversees all parts of mushroom production. Most days, you'll find him hard at work making mushroom blocks, harvesting mushrooms, delivering to local restaurants and grocers, or selling mushrooms at our farmers market stand. He has a background in Biochemistry and is a scientist at heart. He believes a healthy diet and lifestyle are the best ways to prevent disease. This is why he has a passion for the many benefits of fungi. His favorite mushroom is shiitake.

Cassi Brenner supports Humble Fungi by managing finances and occasionally gets her hands dirty making mushrooms. You'll find her most Saturdays at the market alongside Nathan (and if you're lucky, the kids, too). Her favorite mushrooms are chestnut.
